Betty Lou (Starkey) Lyon, 84, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022.
She was born May 15, 1937, in Clyde, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence and Mabel (Demanette) Starkey. She went to Clyde High School.
Betty married Donald Leonard Lyon on August 25, 1956 in Clyde, Kansas, he survives. Other survivors include her daughters, Shirley (Kloyce) Hamilton and Debra Anderson; grandson, Michael S. Anderson; sister-in-law, Linda Lyon; cousin, Larry Douglas and numerous nieces and nephews on Don's side. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joan Mosher and brother, Walter Starkey.
Betty loved and cherished her family, especially her grandson. She had the privilege of raising her two daughters. In her younger years, she also enjoyed babysitting.
Together, Don and Betty worked together at the IGA Store in Osage City and Perry. She would help him wrap the meat.
She loved to camp, fish, and travel. She loved the outdoors and spending time in her flower garden.
Betty had a strong faith. She was a past member of the Osage City Baptist Church.
A Graveside Service will be 1:00 pm., Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the West Lawn Memorial Gardens, 820 S.W. Auburn Road, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
