Betty June Lewis
Betty June Lewis, 89, Topeka, died peacefully Thursday, February 19, 2015, at Autumn Home Plus of Topeka. She was born in Delia, the daughter of R.B. and Edith Kemper (Stagner) Day.
She graduated from Seaman High School in 1943, and attended Clarks Business School. Betty retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 30 years of service.
She was a member of the Goodyear Blimp Club and the Goodyear Leisure Club. She was a member of Helena Chapter # 210, O.E.S. for over 60 years, serving as Worthy Matron in 1960 and was Grand Representative of Oregon in Kansas. Betty was a life member of the American Ex-PRISONER-OF-WAR Organization, and was Past-Commander and Past-Adjutant Treasurer of the Topeka Chapter.
Betty was and honorary member of Arabs Shrine's Antique Unit and Arab Nobelles. She was also a member of Seaman Congregational Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Women of the Moose.
Betty is survived by her son, Charles E. "Chuck" Lewis, Jr.; grandson, Michael J. Lewis; granddaughter, Sarah Lewis; great-granddaughter, Heather Bone; and great-grandson, Ethan Lewis.
She was preceded in death by husband, Charles; daughter, Mary "Janeen" Lewis; and brother, Howard K. Day.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, followed by Eastern Star Services conducted by Helena Chapter # 210, O.E.S. Interment will be in Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka.
Betty will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
