Betty Jean (Abbey) Bass, age 84 of Topeka passed away Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Midland Hospice Care in Topeka. Betty was born March 26, 1934 in Mountain View, Missouri to Carl and Ida (Becker) Abbey. Betty married Thomas Red Bass on May 9, 1952 in Hardy, Arkansas. After moving to Topeka she attended Potwin Presbyterian Church for over 37 years. Betty provided daycare for over 50 years. Betty is survived by her husband, Thomas of over 66 years; a son, John (Linda) Bass; daughters, Debbie (Sluggo) Espinoza, Tammie (Chuck) Espinoza; a son in law, Danny Miller; a brother, Joe (Pat) Abbey; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 11 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Don, George, Bob and Roy; a sister, Nancy (Abbey) Pruitt; a daughter, Terrie Miller and a son, Ronnie Bass. Betty loved baking, cooking, watching QVC and taking care of children and her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Memorial services will be Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Potwin Presbyterian Church, 400 SW Washburn Ave. with a reception to follow.
