Bertha Rose Groves

Bertha Rose "Susie" Groves, 85, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.

Susie was born on July 11, 1938 to John and Bertha (Rubey) Ullman in Dodge City, Kansas. She married Charles "Chick" Groves and together they spent a beautiful 47 years together before his passing. She was very proud of the fact that she lived in their family home that her and Chick purchased together on December 1, 1959, for 64 years.

In her younger years she was the director of her yearbook staff in high school. Susie was an artist soul that had the eye for decorating and floral arrangements. She loved to garden and sit on her porch. She was what you would call a "neighbors, neighbor". She loved to catch up with her friends and socialize. She was truly the best friend you could ever ask for. When Susie took you in, there was no going back. When she loved, she loved hard. She took great pride in knowing the Lord. Susie was a prayer warrior through and through. She was very supportive and a motherly figure to all that knew her.

Susie is survived by her loving life long friends, Debbie (Tim) Hulsopple, Judy (Jay) Jellison, and Barbara (Richard) Sundermeyer.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her siblings.

Visitation with the family receiving friends will be held from
10:00 am-11:00 am, Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Family Life Church of the Nazarene. Celebration of Life service will follow at 11:00 am. Graveside will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
