Berniece Vawter

Berniece Mae Vawter, 83, Mayetta, died Friday, July 1, 2005 at the Jackson County Nursing Home in Holton. She was born November 28, 1921 in Jefferson County, KS, the daughter of Alfred and Fay Baker Self.

She was a member of Mayetta Community Church.

Berniece married Orville B. Vawter, June 10, 1939 in Holton, Kansas. He died December, 16, 1990. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Nancy Mae Vawter, a son Robert Vawter and a granddaughter, Shilene Vawter.

Survivors include a daughter, Laura Mumert, Mayetta; two sons, Leslie A. Vawter, Benicia, CA; Everett O. Vawter, Holton; 5 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Vawter will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
