Bernice I. Hamilton, 88, Silver Lake, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018.

She was born March 13, 1930, in Marysville, Kansas, the daughter of Albert and Christine Rettig. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1948.

Bernice owned and operated Hamilton Oil Co. with her husband Cecil, retiring in 1995.

She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Bernice married Cecil Hamilton on April 9, 1950 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death in 1985. Survivors include three sons, CJ (Patty) Hamilton; Kent (Lori) Hamilton and Brett (Cindy) Hamilton, all of Silver Lake; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two siblings, Norbert Rettig and Merla Rogers.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 11, 2018 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 901 SW Fillmore, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions.

Memorial contributions may be made to Silver Lake High School or Topeka Lutheran School.
