Beatrice Mae "Bea" Dahl
MANHATTAN - Mrs. Beatrice Mae "Bea" Dahl, 77, Manhattan, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Stonybrook Retirement Community in Manhattan. Mrs. Dahl was born March 4, 1927, at Deep Water, Mo., the daughter of Loren Dana and Gladys Dee Rayburn Simmons. Mrs. Dahl was a school teacher and had taught at Cawker City and Ellsworth public schools. She moved to Topeka in 1966 and to Manhattan in 1992. Mrs. Dahl was married to Richard S. Dahl Sr. on June 3, 1950, in Salina. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1992. Her parents; a brother, Dr. William C. Simmons; and a sister, Betty Jean Houltberg, also preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Richard S. Dahl Jr., Lawrence; and two sisters, Mary Frances Textor, Leawood, and Lorna Dee Wells, Wichita. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in North Topeka. Interment will be in Rochester Cemetery in Topeka. The casket will remain closed.&n bsp; Mrs. Dahl will lie in state after 3 p.m. today at the mortuary.
