B. "Ellen" Tichenor, 99, of Topeka, passed away Friday, April 1, 2022.
She was born February 9, 1923, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Donald and Annie (Gleason) Shimeall. She was a graduate of Hoyt High School, Hoyt, Kansas. Ellen was a long time active member of Topeka Bible Church.
Ellen married Edwin L. Tichenor on December 7, 1941, in Hoyt, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1978. Survivors include seven children, Janet E. (Duane) Jacob, Neosho Rapids, KS, Elizabeth A. Gray, Topeka, Dr. Rowan (Jean) Tichenor, Casper, WY, Dorothy L. Fleischauer, Bethel Park, PA, Ilene K. Bachman, Topeka, Beverly G. (Brent) Decker, Topeka and Joan M. Tichenor, Augusta, KS; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Shimeall, Magnolia, TX; and a sister, Annie Kay Zeller, Huntington Beach, CA.
She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Shimeall; her mother, Annie Zeller; two brothers, David and Donald Shimeall; a sister, Jean Streittmatter; and a Grandson, Edwin Gray.
Visitation will take place from 6-8pm, at Parker Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave, on Thursday, April 7th. A Graveside Service will take place at 10AM, Friday April 8th, at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, 820 SW Auburn Rd, Topeka, with a reception to follow at Parker Price Funeral Home.
