Barbara M. Coder, 92, Topeka, died Saturday, February 25, 2012, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
Mrs. Coder was born in Wamego, Kansas, on November 30, 1919, the daughter of Ulrich and Florence Eggenberger. She graduated from Wamego High School in 1938.
She married Frank E. Coder on August 7, 1946. Mr. Coder died on August 24, 1994.
Survivors include daughters, Beverly Claar, Linda Bigenwalt, both of Kingwood, TX, Denise Rolfs, Topeka; son, Benny D. Coder, Topeka; sister, Bonnie Coder, Texas City, TX; brothers, Lewis Eggenberger, Lubbock, TX, Donald Eggenberger, Berryton, KS, James Eggenberger, Lawrence, KS.; five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Mrs. Coder traveled extensively with her career military husband Frank until his retirement from the U S Army in 1963, and they settled in Topeka. Mrs. Coder began her career with the Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment in 1962 and retired in 1983.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Coder will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
