Barbara Ann Rice, 68, of Clay Center, formerly of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2015.
She was born December 22, 1946 in Topeka, the daughter of Robert E. and Viola L. (Colgrove) Lee. She was a 1965 graduate of Seaman High School.
Barbara was employed by American Linen and Falley's Food 4 Less in Topeka, Auburn State Bank in Auburn, KS. She later worked for Jag Construction in Dodge City, KS, Kansas Wheat House, Cimarron, KS, retiring from Clay Center Family Physicians in 2010.
Barbara married George Terry Rice on May 26, 1979 in Melvern, KS. He survives of the home. Other survivors include three sons, Jerry (Carrie) Long, Caledonia, WI Glenn (Shanan) Long, Topeka, and Terry (Tiffany Brosch) Rice, Lyndon, KS; four grandchildren, Devon, Austin and Ashley Long and James Terry Rice; a great-granddaughter, Elliana Long; her father, Robert E. Lee, Topeka; her uncle, Rodger Lee, Topeka; several cousins; mother and father-in-law, Don and June Rice; many in-laws and close friends including, Dick and Carol Smith, David and Shirley Voran and Rosine Roberts.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed casinos, garage sales, antique shopping and traveling.
A funeral ceremony will be 1 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m., Monday at the Melvern Cemetery, Melvern, KS. Barbara will lie in state after 1 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m.
