Barbara Jean Adams, 86, Topeka, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018.
She was born June 3, 1932, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of William F. and Clara M. (Crocker) Hazen.
She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1950.
Barbara worked for the Seaman School District in food service and was a hostess and bookkeeper at Village Inn.
She was a member of Lowman United Methodist Church and past member of Oakland United Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge in Topeka.
Barbara married Allison D. Adams on October 21, 1950 in Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dale Adams and eight brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Michael (Elizabeth) Adams and Kelly (Melissa) Adams; nine grandchildren: Sonia Tolbert, Chad Adams, Danny Adams, Jonathan Adams, James Adams, Brandon Adams, Aubrey Adams, Ashley Toyne and Patrick Eisenbarth and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Barbara was an avid crafter, sewer and seamstress and was recognized by the V.A. Hospital in Topeka for making and donating over 250 afghans for the veterans. She also enjoyed playing the piano and at an early age played for a church program over the radio in Ottawa.
A memorial ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 12, 2018, at Lowman United Methodist Church, 4101 SW 15th St., Topeka, Kansas 66604. A reception and visitation will immediately follow at the church. Private inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lowman United Methodist Church for the music program.
