OBITUARY: Ava I. Grimmett
Ava I. Grimmett, 95, Grantville, KS, died Wed., May 12, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka. She was born to Wm. M. Buck and Minnie L. (Hammond) Buck on Oct. 6, 1914, in Emporia, KS. She was a former member of Belmont Wesleyan Methodist Church, American Quarter Horse Assoc.; and North Topeka Saddle Club. She married Raymond K. Grimmett on March 3, 1933, in Emporia. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2001. She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Judy L. Grimmett; a son: Raymond R. Grimmett; and a great-grandson: Justin A. Spreer. Surviving are 2 daughters: Joyce Beals (Edward) of Berryton, KS, and Betty Barngrover (Clyde) of Grantville, KS; 3 sons: Don Grimmett (Bernice) of Meriden, KS, Cecil Grimmett (Brenda) of Carbondale, KS, and Harold Grimmett of Topeka, KS; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Francis V. Buck of Bartlett, TN, and Vernon Buck of Emporia, KS; and 2 sisters: Margaret Weems of Burlingame, KS, and Dorothy Matile of Emporia, KS. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Mon., May 17, 2010, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Interment in Grantville Cemetery. Ava will lie in state after 2:00 PM, Sun., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
