Austin Thomas Haya, 87, Topeka, died September 22, 2018 at home.
He was born October 2, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York the youngest son of John Sage and Marui K. Haya.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1946-1973 serving in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and received a purple heart for his service.
Austin graduated from Western State University in Orange County, California with a Juris Doctor Law Degree in 1983. He worked at a law firm in Los Angeles, California.
He married Audrey B. Harvey in England in 1955 and they had four children together. They later divorced.
Austin later married Sachiko Takamya in 1969 in Japan.
Survivors include wife, Sachiko Haya, children, Jayne Lewis (Keith), Tecumseh; Steve (Shelly) Haya, Maple Hill; Sharon (Daniel), Escobar, Topeka; Austin T. Haya, Jr., Topeka; grandchildren, Jamie Penry, Topeka, Chelsea (Craig) Penry Meyer, Valley Falls, KS, Chad Penry, Meriden, Jordan Haya, Zach Haya, Maple Hill, Amber Haya, Topeka, Christy (Eric) Geis, Gabriel Escobar, Ryan Escobar, Ashley Escobar, all of Topeka, Katie King, Overland Park and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Parker Price Funeral Home, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, KS 66608. Family will greet friends one hour prior. Burial will follow at Topeka Cemetery.
