Audrey Leota Laningham, 87, of Topeka, formerly of Shawnee, KS passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at home.
She was born July 4, 1923 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Amanda Pearl Knoor. She was a graduate of Ruskin High School, Kansas City, MO where she played women's basketball. She was employed by H.D. Lee Jean Manufacture and later served as secretary to the Colonel on Andrews Air Force Base.
She and her husband owned and operated the Ace Meat Company, Kansas City, KS until 1985.
Audrey married Charles E. Laningham on March 4, 1945. He preceded her in death on October 16, 2001. Survivors include a daughter, Sue (Joe) Michalski, Topeka; a son, Steven Laningham, Belton, MO; 5grandchildren, Joseph Michalski, Jr., Trisha Slimmer, Eric Michalski, Joshua Laningham and Jennifer Laningham; 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Knoor and a sister, Ella Parker
Mrs. Laningham will lie in state after 3 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Graveside ceremonies will be 11a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the Oakland Cemetery, Harrisonville, MO.
