OBITUARY: Arthur I. Tolbert
Arthur Ilo Tolbert, 98, Topeka, died Thurs., Oct. 11, 2007, at Rolling Hills Health Center. He was born Aug. 23, 1909, at Dillon, the son of Clarence Clyde and Anna Mae (Miller) Tolbert.
Arthur lived in the Tecumseh-Topeka communties most of his life. He farmed and operated a dairy in the Tecumseh area for many years. He worked for the Tecumseh Township for 10 years. Arthur was a member of the Tecumseh Grange, Farm Bureau, and Topeka Radio Control Club.
Arthur was married to Esther Georgia Murrison on May 21, 1937, at Topeka. She survives of the home. He was preceded in death by a son, James I. Tolbert, in 1987.
Also surviving are a son: Robert D. and Diane Tolbert of Topeka; a daughter-in-law Sammy Peck: a daughter: Lois and Jon Gjovig of Overland Park; a sister: Lucille Stauffer of Topeka; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Mon., Oct. 15, 2007, at Oakland United Methodist Church, 801 NE Chester. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM, Monday, at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth. Arthur will lie in state from 1:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Monday, at the church.
