Arthur E. Boyers, 88, of Topeka, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010.
He was born September 20, 1921 in Freeport, IL the son of Arthur and Edna Boyers. He was a graduate of Topeka High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was a counselor for the V.A. Hospital in Topeka for 20 years, retiring September of 1980. He was a member of the NRA, participating in marksmanship events. He was also an avid Ham Radio enthusiast and avid gardener.
Arthur married Irene L. Roath on July 5, 1941 in Leavenworth, KS. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Craig Arthur Boyers, Lindsborg, KS and Glen Allan Boyers, Carbondale, KS; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside ceremonies will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Mr. Boyers will lie in state after 3 p.m., Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608.
