Arlena L. Hinton

Arlena L. Hinton, age 78, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Stormont Vail Hospital.  Arlena was born April 13, 1944 in Soldier, KS the daughter of Walter and Grace (Baker) Leach. She graduated from Soldier High School with the class of 1962.  She married Kenneth Gharst, September 5, 1965.  He preceded her in death September of 1989.  She married Gene Hinton October 19, 1996 in Topeka.  He preceded her in death August 7, 2012.  Arlena cared for her grandchildren and great grandchildren most of her life.  She had worked at Brewster Place in housekeeping for over 10 years.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roy Leach.  She is survived by a son, Terry Gharst of Topeka; two step sons, Duane Hinton and Larry D. Hinton, both of Topeka; a daughter, Dawn (Steven) Means of Topeka; a step daughter, Linda Sue Ellis of Colorado; two brothers, Chester Leach of Chapman and Arley Leach of Holton, KS; a sister, Edith Burress of Topeka; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rochester Cemetery.  She will lie in state Tuesdhttps://view.oneroomstreaming.com/authorise.php?k=1665616165213156ay from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.  davidsonfuneral.com.
