Ardith "June" Ashton, 75, Topeka, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at her home. She was born January 8, 1938, in Mayfield, Washington, the daughter of Raymond J. and Louise V. (Larabee) Hollabaugh.
June graduated from Netawaka High School and Clarks Business College. She retired from the Santa Fe General Offices. She was a member of Arab Shrine Golf Ladies.
June was married to Gary Ashton on December 5, 1969, in Lawrence.
Surviving are her husband: Gary Ashton of the home: four children: Sharla Pfeffer of Topeka, Tim Sanders (Vicki) of Topeka, Tina Franz (Jerry) of Grantville, and Mishelle Wilcox (Roger) of Topeka; a step-son: Gerry Ashton of Topeka; ten grandchildren: Melissa Drunkard, Travis Wickham, Lyndsey Wickham, Nicole Heck, Heather Scott, Catherine Wilcox, Myles Wilcox, Tiffany Ashton, Craig Ashton, and Beth Ashton; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Rebecca Franz on April 1, 1995 and Eric Pfeffer on July 29, 2000; her parents; and three siblings: Gene Hollabaugh, Marianne Miller, and Mirl Hollabaugh.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Avenue, Topeka.
June will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tuesday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
