Archie W. Allen, 93, of Silver Lake, passed away on April 21, 2022.

He was born on March 20, 1929 to George and Dora (Holz) Allen in Rossville, Kansas.

He spent the first seven years of his life in Rossville, moving to Topeka in 1936. Archie graduated from Topeka High School in 1946. After graduation, he worked for John Morrell Meat Packer from 1947-1951. After, he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict for 2 years, from 1951-1953 before he was honorably discharged. After service, he went to work for the United States Postal Service on January 1, 1954 as a Postal Clerk, appointed Postmaster in 1972 at Eskridge, Kansas and was also appointed Postmaster at Burlingame, Kansas in 1983, before retiring in 1988 after 34 years.

He was a member of the Silver Lake United Methodist Church and a former member of Eskridge Kiwanis and Burlingame Rotarians.

On September 9, 1950, Archie married Ivajean Allen (Allen) in Topeka. Together they had 3 children.

After his retirement, Archie loved wood working, golfing, bowling, and traveling with his wife, especially wintering in South Padre Island for 14 years. In his earlier days, Archie enjoyed getting together with his siblings for reunions and being with family.

Archie is survived by his loving Wife, Ivajean; Children, Mark (Cheri) Allen, Carla (Rob) James, and Karen (Dave) Cremer; Sister, Doris (Eldon) Roberson, 6 Grandchildren, 2 Step-Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Step- Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents; Siblings, Vincent B. Allen, Laura E. (Allen) Briggs, George H. Allen, Aileen Anderson, and Dale A. Allen.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 3, 2022, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Parker-Price Reception Center in Topeka, Kansas.

Private family graveside service will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery.
