Anita Pekarek, 68, Topeka, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
She was born June 27, 1950, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer, Sr. and Etta (Ryles) Essman. She graduated from Perry-Lecompton High School in 1968.
Anita was currently employed with Dillon's North Pharmacy and was previously employed with Northland Christian Church Daycare Center for over 30 years.
She was a member of the Topeka Historical Society and Friends of the Zoo.
On April 16, 1973, she married Larry Pekarek in Oskaloosa. He survives. Other survivors include her children: Leah (Steve) Martin, Sean (Brandy) Pekarek, Denice (Joseph) Trawicki and Chandler (Lyndsay) Pekarek; mother, Etta Landis; brother, Jack Essman; six grandchildren: Trey Trawicki, Olivia Pekarek, Jack Pekarek, Mara Trawicki, Tinley Pekarek and Paxton Pekarek, due in February and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father and brother, Elmer Essman, Jr.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday, January 11, 2019 at Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will follow at Grantville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
