Anita H. Shellenberger

Anita H. Shellenberger, 81, of Topeka, passed away Monday, December 27, 2010.

She was born March 18, 1929 in Emporia, KS, the daughter of William and Pearl (Shields) Nickel. She was a 1946 graduate of Emporia High School.

Anita married Clair W. "Pete" Shellenberger on August 30, 1947 in Emporia, KS. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister. Survivors include four children, John (Janet) Shellenberger, Houston, TX, Jim (Marlene) Shellenberger, and Penny (Steve) Unruh, Jay Shellenberger, all of Topeka; 8 grandchildren, Jeff, Jamie, Sara (Adam), Brian, Justin (Amy), Shannon, Jordan and Marie; and a great-grandson, William.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Mrs. Shellenberger will lie in state from 3-7 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
