Amy Suzanne Akin, 34, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at her home. She was born August 22, 1978, in Amarillo, Texas.
She moved to Topeka at an early age and attended Seaman Schools and Highland Park High School. Amy worked at Southwest Caging and Home Depot Distribution Center.
She was married to Bert Akin on October 7, 2003, in Topeka.
Surviving are her husband: Bert; children: Ariel, Brittany, and Nathan; mother: Michele Lynn (Hackerott) Garrett of Topeka; father: Charles H. Garrett; sisters: Paula Sutton (Terry) of Copenhagen, New York and Sara Garrett of Topeka; and brothers: Brian Wilson of Topeka and Josh Uhl (Yolanda) of Topeka; and parents-in-law: Joe and Michelle Akin of Topeka; two brothers –in-law: Brandon Akin (Crystal) of Branson, Missouri and Little Joe Akin of Topeka.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue.
Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Grove, Kansas.
Amy will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Monday, at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
