OBITUARY: Alvis V. Winans
Alvis V. Winans, 62, Topeka, died Fri., Oct. 9, 2009, at Aldersgate Village. He was born Sept. 9, 1947, in Leavenworth, the son of Friedof and Alberta (Frazier) Winans. He attended Oskaloosa High School and Kansas State University. Alvis was an insurance agent with Farmers Insurance Group of Companies for 28 years. He was a member of University United Methodist Church. Alvis was married to Mary E. Wildman on July 12, 1969, in Oskaloosa. Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter: Wendi N. Winans of Blue Springs, MO; a son: Martel L. Winans of Topeka; 2 sisters: Fredonna Smith (Howard) of Gravis Mills, MO and Nedra Wolnick (Dick) of Tecumseh; 2 sisters-in-law: Judith Roark (Roger) of West Friendship, MD and Karen Trail (John) of Axtell; and lots of nieces and nephews. A memorial of life will be at 10:00 AM, Mon., Oct. 12, 2009, at University United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 PM, Sun., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka.
