Alvin Clair Jordan, Jr.
Alvin Clair Jordan, Jr., 86, Topeka, died Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. He was born April 1, 1929, in Topeka, the son of Leona Rose (Slater) and Alvin Clair Jordan, Sr.
Al graduated from Seaman High School. He was an ironworker with Ironworkers Local 10 of Kansas City. He was a member of the American Bowling Congress. He was co-owner of Al Jordan's Welding.
Al was married to Theresa C. Cohorst on August 30, 1949, in Lawrence. She preceded him in death on April 19, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard Jordan; a sister, Alene Willison; and a son-in-law, Tom Holmes.
Surviving are his children: Peggy Holmes of Topeka, Joyce Stanley of Topeka, Deborah Tenpenny (Mike) of Hoyt, Marc Jordan of Topeka, Alvie Jordan of Topeka, Shelley Davis (Jim) of Osage City, and Matthew Jordan (Brenda) of Topeka; twelve grandchildren: Lucas, Amelia, Jessica, Eddie, Theresa, Michele, Jay, Justin, Penny, Joshua, Jamie, and Nate; 28 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
A Memorial Mass will be at 9:30 AM, Friday, July 24, 2015, at Mater Dei Catholic Parish, Assumption Church, 204 SW Eighth Street, Topeka. Interment of cremains will be in Rochester Cemetery, 1200 NW Menninger Road, Topeka.
Respect calls may be made after 3:00 PM, Thursday, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM.
