Alpha Mobley
Alpha E. Mobley, 93, Topeka, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at a Topeka nursing home.
She was born Aug. 16, 1909, in Redding, Calif., to Everett Burton and Ella Wallingford Mendenhall. She graduated from Ashland High School in Clark County and attended the University of Colorado in Boulder. She was a bookkeeper for Johnson's Softwater Service in Ponca City, Okla. She lived in Topeka for 14 years.
She was a member of Seabrook United Church of Christ since 1989, a member of Order of Amaranth and a past president of Credit Women's International Association, both in Ponca City.
She married George K. Mobley on July 29, 1928, in Bucklin. He died Aug. 16, 1989. A son, Jack K. Mobley, died Aug. 24, 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Scott E. Mobley, Topeka, and Samuel W. Mobley, Haysville; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Cemetery in Ponca City, Okla. Mrs. Mobley will lie in state after 3 p.m. Wednesday at Parker-Price Mortuary, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
