Alonna Elaine Lake, age 7, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015.
She was born premature at the weight of one pound, 15 ounces on December 23, 2007 in Topeka, the daughter of Joseph James Lake, Jr. and Kimberly Kay "Kim" Anderson.
Alonna was a first grade student at State Street Elementary in Topeka and participated in the TARC program.
Survivors include her mother, Kim Anderson; step-father, Mark Epperly and his grandchildren, Addy and Tyson; her father, Joseph James Lake, Jr.; two brothers, Matthew Anderson and Joseph James Lake III; two sisters, Toni Shughart and Stephanie Lake, all of Topeka; her maternal grandmother, Edith "Elaine" Anderson, Topeka; paternal grandfather, Joseph James Lake, Sr., St. Joseph, MO; her aunt, Jenean Prather and her significant other, Steven Kincade; her uncle Michael Anderson; her nieces, Kylee Schroeder, Lilian Schroeder and Natalie Johnson; three cousins, Danielle, Marcus and Audre Moliar; and her best friend Heather.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Carolyn Flores.
Alonna liked pizza. She loved school, the outdoors and playing outside with her brother and friends. Her favorite color was yellow and was always a happy girl.
A funeral ceremony will be 2 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka, KS 66608.Cremation will follow the service.
Alonna will lie in state after 9 a.m., Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour.
