Alna (Rindom) Edmiston
Alna Laurene (Rindom) Edmiston, age 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Presbyterian Manor in Topeka.
Alna was born October 13, 1919 in Oskaloosa, Kansas, to parents Miles and Kate Rindom. She graduated from Ozawkie High School in 1938 and married Claude Edmiston Jr. (Emporia, KS) in June of 1943. The couple lived in Rock Creek, then on a farm at Meriden, later moving to North Topeka were she was a member and served North Topeka Second Presbyterian Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband Claude (d. 1996), her parents, brother Luther Rindom, sister Myra McClenny, nephews Barton Rindom (Atchison, KS), William Rindom (Kansas City), Myron McClenny (Belleview, WA) and nieces Ruth Ramsey (Atchison, KS) and June McClenny White (Bella Vista, AR).
Survivors include Pat Rindom of Atchison, KS and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Alna will be fondly remembered for her quick wit, joyful spirit, incredible work ethic and strong sense of family and family history that lives on in the hearts of all that knew her, and through the extensive collection of her handmade quilts that will remain as treasured possessions to so many family members and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM ,Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment in Spring Grove Cemetery, Boyle (southeast of Valley Falls in Jefferson County). Alna will lie in state from 3:00 to 8:30 pm, Tuesday, at the funeral chapel.
