Almira Rae Catron born on December 22, 1940, in a cozy farmhouse north of Emmett, Kansas. She embarked on her earthly journey, filled with love and joy, on February 5, 2025, passing away peacefully with her family by her side.
A graduate of St. Marys High School in 1958, Almira’s spirit was as spunky as the life she led. She was a devoted homemaker, embracing the joys and challenges of family life with unwavering dedication. Married to her beloved husband, Harley Catron, since October 14, 1958, in Lawrence, Kansas, Almira found her greatest fulfillment in raising their children, Donna, Christine, and Lori. Every moment spent with her family was treasured, and she ensured that the values of love and support were woven into the fabric of their lives.
Almira volunteered as a school librarian and worked with the Girl Scouts, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of many children in her community. Her generous spirit and love for learning were evident in everything she did. She was also known for her talents in crochet and needlepoint, crafting beautiful pieces that speak of her creativity and patience.
Traveling across the country in her motorhome, Almira was proud to have visited all 50 states, celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary on this remarkable journey. Her travels were filled with adventures and cherished memories, all while bringing her family closer together. She had a special bond with her dog, Brutus.
Almira lived for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending their sporting events with pride that only a doting grandmother can possess. The joy she felt watching them grow and participate in various activities was a testament to her love and the legacy she built.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Harley; daughters Lori (Lori H.) Catron and Christine Stone; grandchildren Misty (Kissom) Moss, TJ Stone, Malori (Keith) Walton, Mataia Gales, Jancie Justice, and Mya Coffman; and great-grandchildren Maisley and Kennedy. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Linda Hill.
Almira joins her late daughter, Donna Rae Coffman, and brothers Albert Heston Jr., Jim Heston, and Ronnie Heston, along with her sisters Bessie Mae Baker and Phyllis Davis. She is also reunited with her father, Albert Heston Sr., and mother, Pauline (Day) Heston.
Her legacy of love and cherished memories will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends, who will carry forward her vibrant spirit and passion for life. Almira Rae Catron, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, will be profoundly missed but warmly remembered for the countless lives she touched.
