Almatha W. Woodall
Almatha W. Woodall, 80, Topeka, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at a Topeka hospital. She was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Lincoln County, the daughter of Henry P. and Clara Margaret Nelson Jensen. She had lived in Topeka since 1942. Mrs. Woodall worked at a Hallmark Cards shop before she started her family. She has done many hours of volunteer work for the Indian Creek 4-H Club and the Indian Creek Grange. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, Indian Creek Grange, Auxiliary to Topeka North Post No. 400 of the American Legion and a leader for Indian Creek 4-H Club. She married Leonard Woodall on April 10, 1949, in Topeka. He died Oct. 12, 1988. She also was preceded in death by a brother, E. Don Jensen. Survivors include two daughters, Alana Atkins and Diana Bates, and her husband, Michael, both of Topeka; a sister, Carrie C. Michaelson, Topeka; four brothers, Marvin Jensen, Lincoln, Kan., E. Lew Jensen, Sylvan, Cleo Jensen, Hunter, and Jerry Jensen, Marion; grandchildren, Bryan Atkins, Brandy Atkins and Dwayne Bates, all of Topeka, Derrick Bates, Overland Park, and Dustin Bates, Manhattan; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery. Mrs. Woodall will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 N.W.
