OBITUARY: Mrs. Alice S. Woodall
Mrs. Alice Salma Woodall, 90, of Topeka died Thurs. evening, Jan. 20, 2005 at Aldersgate Village Health Unit West. She was born Jan. 30, 1914 at Fairfax, SD the daughter of Valtine and Margaret E. (Schlepp) Peter. The family moved to Goodland in 1920 and she moved to northeast Kansas after her marriage.
Mrs. Woodall worked in various service positions within the Wetmore and Netawaka Communities. She was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church;
Whiting Chapter # 287, Order of the Eastern Star; and the Auxiliary to Topeka North Post # 400 of the American Legion. She was a former member of the Indian Creek Grange.
Mrs. Woodall was married to Merle H. Woodall on Jan. 26, 1933 at St. Francis, KS. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1980. She was also preceded in death by a son, Chester L. Woodall, on June 16, 1984; and 6 siblings: Fred, Rudy, Howard, Leonard, Emma, and Florence.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney M. and Sherri Woodall of Topeka; 2 sisters: Gertie Biggs of Kansas City and Alma Conely of Wichita; 6 grandchildren: Carie Bermingham, Scott Woodall, Leslie Salmeron, Allison Loyd, Amie Woodall, and Angie Woodall; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Mon., Jan. 24, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Committal services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Netawaka Cemetery.
Mrs. Woodall will lie in state after 12:00 noon Sunday at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM Sunday.
