Alice M. Urban, 90, of Shawnee, formerly of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
She was born June 21, 1922 in Wellington, KS, the daughter of James and Virgil (Cobb) Garrett. She was a graduate of Topeka High.
Mrs. Urban and her husband managed the L.B. Price Mercantile Company and also worked for Industries for the Blind.
Alice married Leonard M. Urban on September 15, 1938 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on June 2, 1989. Survivors include two children, Joan May, Prairie Village, KS and Leonard J. (Ann) Urban, Shawnee, KS; five grandchildren, Kelly Crahan, Kristopher May, Kayla May, Julie Hamilton and Jennifer Urban; five great-grandchildren, Kyle Shoptaw, Kaitlin Hamilton, Caleb Hamilton, Jamie Hamilton and Ava Bredwell; and two sisters, Mazel Gabel and Doris Kampsen. She was preceded in death by brother, Robert Garrett and a sister, Virginia Stroth.
Mrs. Urban was cremated. A private graveside ceremony will be at Rochester Cemetery, Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Easter Seals Capper Foundation, 3500 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66604. Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, Topeka is assisting the family.
