Alice Belle Jacobs, 80, Topeka, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018.
She was born August 15, 1937, in Oswego, Kansas, the daughter of Glenn and Eleanor (Wiggins) Thompson.
She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1955. After graduating, Alice married Tommy Lee Long on June 3, 1956, they later divorced. Alice is survived by her children, Brenda (Long) Alfrey (California) and Thomas Long. She later married Francis "Frank" Jacobs on October 21, 1978 in Topeka, KS. He survives along with his two sons, Kevyn Jacobs and Dale Jacobs (Oklahoma City). Other survivors include a sister, Peggy (Thompson) Herzog, three brothers, Bob and Glenn Thompson (Colorado) and David Hardin (California), six grandsons, and seventeen great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents and their spouses, Glenn and Bernie Thompson and Earl and Eleanor (Wiggins) Hardin, one sister, Phyllis (Thompson) Blagoff.
Alice was employed for many years in the insurance industry where she was voted Insurance Woman of the Year, one of the highest awards in that industry. She was CIC, CPIW, President Kansas Society of Insurance Women, 1987-1988. She retired in 1996 and recently served as Secretary for Friends in Credit. She loved quilting, reading, sewing, vegetable and flower gardening. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2401 SW Kingsrow Rd, Topeka. Private burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
