OBITUARY: Alfred C. "Al" Sill

Alfred C. "Al" Sill, 79, Topeka, died Mon., April 21, 2008, at his home. Mr. Sill retired from Hallmark Cards in 1988 after 35 years of service. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict, earning the Purple Heart, and was a life member of Philip Billard Post # 1650, V.F.W. He was born March 16, 1929, in Emporia, the son of Reuben and Lydia (Strupp) Sill.

Mr. Sill was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Topeka. He married Rosella Roberts in Lebo, on Sept. 2, 1955. She survives. Other survivors are Pam Sill, daughter, of Edgerton; Alan Sill, son, of Liberal; and Diane Brees, daughter, of Topeka; brother: Marion Johnson of Emporia; 2 sisters: Ruth Jones of Emporia, and Mildred Lewis of Lawrence; 4 grandkids: Alaina Sill, Adam Sill, Taryn Brees, and Olivia Brees. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 half- brothers, Clair Johnson and Lloyd Johnson, and a granddaughter, Amber Christine Brees.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Fri., April 25, 2008, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. A Ft. Riley U.S. Army Detail will conduct military honors at 3:00 PM, Fri., April 25, at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Lebo. Mr. Sill will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Thurs., at the funeral chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to NICU at Stormont-Vail Hospital, 1500 SW Tenth, Topeka, KS 66604.
