Alfred "Al" Mannell, 86, of Topeka, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019.
He was born June 12, 1932, in Circleville, Kansas, the son of William and Mattie (Woolsoncroft) Mannell.
He was an Electronics Technician at DuPont, retiring after 35 years of service.
Al was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Topeka. He was involved with 4-H as a Project Leader. He was the Secretary for the Board of Santa Fe Credit Union as well as on the board for Imperial Harbor. He was a past member and Elder at Hope Lutheran Church, Bonita Springs, FL, and was a member of Antique Car Club and Holton Art Guild.
In his younger years he hunted, fished, and restored antique cars and continued to fish up until his health wouldn't allow it. He was very talented, especially when it came to watercolor painting. His love and talent was shown through his stained-glass work. His windows are a part of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and Hope Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodcarving and Native American Bead Work. He grew orchids with his wife Joyce and together collected antiques. He shared his talent by giving friends and family gifts of all of his artwork.
Alfred married Joyce Kopp on June 29, 1950 at Kansas Avenue Methodist Church in Topeka, she survives. Other survivors include children, Terry (Sam) Mannell, Mark (Regina) Mannell, Matt (Deb) Mannell and Rick Knight; grandchildren, Brenden (Brenna) Mannell, Christopher (Trisha) Mannell, Josh (Stephanie) Mannell, Connor Mannell, and Alfred Mannell; great-Grandchildren, Kevin, Haley, Sydney, and Duncan. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Mannell; sister, Sandra Phillips and grandson, Sean Patrick Mannell.
The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka. A Funeral Ceremony will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 4525 NW Button Rd, Topeka. Interment will follow at Rochester Cemetery, in Topeka.
