OBITUARY: Dr. Aleta Jo Petrik Ott

Dr. Aleta Jo Petrik Ott, 67, Topeka, died Thurs., Aug. 13, 2009, at St Francis Hospital, Topeka. She was born May 7, 1942, in Topeka, the daughter of Leo J. and Marguerite A. (Weien) Petrik. She graduated from Topeka High School and Washburn University; and received her Master's and PhD from the University of Kansas. She wrote a reference book for colleges and universities, "The Pteridophytes of Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota," which was published by J. Cramer in 1979. She was a member of Helena Chapter # 210, O.E.S. Jo married Franklyn D. Ott in 1970, in Beatrice, NE. Surviving are her husband: Dr. Franklyn D. Ott of the home; her father and step-mother: Leo J. and Elizabeth Petrik of Topeka; and her cousins: Merlyn and Dorothy Gile of Las Vegas, NV. Funeral services will be at 9:00 AM, Wed., Aug. 19, 2009, at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence, Topeka. Jo will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Tues., at the funeral chapel.
