Alberta L. Brandenburgh, 88, of Belvue, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014.
She was born June 24, 1926, in Belvue, Kansas, the daughter of Richard W. and Alta May (Meade) Beasterfeld. She was a graduate of Paxico High School.
Alberta was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone for 42 years, retiring on August 1, 1987.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and attended Lakeside Baptist Church, Silver Lake.
Alberta married Carl L. Davis on October 9, 1948 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1984. She married James L. Brandenburgh, Sr. on July 16, 1991 in Miami, OK. He preceded her in death on August 19, 1995. Survivors include a son, Kenneth C. (Christine) Davis, Belvue; five grandchildren, Joshua R. (Savannah) Davis, Topeka, Stephanie N. (Ryan) Harrison, Hope, KS, Steven M. (Tana) Davis, Salina, KS, Amanda C. Davis, Holdredge, NE and Justin T. Davis, Belvue; 10 great-grandchildren; two step-sons, James L. Brandenburgh, and Rick J. Brandenburgh, both of Topeka; three step-grandchildren, James L. Brandenburgh III, Chris L. Brandenburgh and Lori J. Brandenburgh, all of Topeka; three step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Anna Marie Gehring, Emporia and Berenice May (Don) Blanka, Wamego.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Melvin Beasterfeld.
A funeral ceremony will be 1 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2014 at the Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave, Topeka. Interment will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Alberta will lie in state from 3-9 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
