Curley Woollard
Albert Wayne "Curley" Woollard, 85, Topeka, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at a Topeka nursing home.
Mr. Woollard retired from Topeka Aircraft at Billard Airport after 51 years as parts and service manager. He served in the Navy during World War II and was an aircraft mechanic and parachute rigger.
He was born Jan. 8, 1918, in Topeka, to Lucky Albert and Mable Warren Woollard. He attended Seaman High School.
Mr. Woollard was a life member of Topeka Church of the Brethren.
He married Mildred Irene Heberling on Feb. 21, 1937, in Topeka. She died Aug. 20, 1992. Mr. Woollard also was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Wendi Morawski.
Survivors include four daughters, Sylvia Gellatly, Savannah, Ga., Ruth Day, Burlingame, Deana May Starks, Topeka, and Esther Britton, Gainsville, Ga.; a son, Clifford W. Woollard, Stockton, Calif.; two sisters, June Dockery and Shirley Boyles, both of Topeka; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Parker-Price Mortuary in Topeka. Burial with graveside military honors conducted by a Fort Riley funeral detail will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Woollard will lie in state at the mortuary after noon today where visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m.
