Agnes P. Thompson 86, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Rolling Hills Health Center.
She was born September 2, 1921 in Hoyt, KS the daughter of Cyrus Asa and Anna May (Fleischer) Kessinger.
Agnes was a 1939 graduate of Hoyt High School. She had served as secretary of the Alumni Association for many years.
She retired from the State of Kansas Animal Health Department following 26 years of service.
She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #58, Hoyt United Methodist Church and Hoyt Chapter #189 Order of the Eastern Star.
Agnes married William Joseph Thompson May 18, 1939. He preceded her in death November 4, 1969. She was also preceded in death by her son Billy Jack Thompson in April 1971 and her sister Juanita Domme August 24, 1990. Survivors include her daughter Carolyn S. Schmidt, Sapulpa, OK; her son Robert J. Thompson, Topeka, KS; her sister, Anna Myrle Ballantoni, Simi Valley, CA; nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Thompson will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel where the family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. that evening. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the Hoyt United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Hoyt Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Hoyt United Methodist Church, 405 Highland Avenue, Hoyt, KS 66440.
