Agnes Sanders, 100, of Topeka, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018.
She was born May 26, 1918, in Holton, Kansas, the daughter of William and Jenny Gibeson and part of a family of 12 children.
Growing up she attended school at Red Brick School House. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known as the matriarch of the family.
During World War II she was a Rosie the Riveter and worked at an airplane factory in Portland, Oregon.
She loved waking up in the morning and listening to the Pleasant Valley Gang on WIBW radio.
Agnes married Joseph Sanders on April 30, 1948 in Kansas City, MO. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2005. Survivors include a Son, Roger (Barb) Sanders, Daughter, Diane (Bruce) Manrose; grandchildren, Roxann Sanders, Michael Sanders, Janel Kennedy, Eddie Manrose, Jason Manrose, and Randy Manrose; great-grandchildren, Hunter Sanders-Poe, Asia Whetstone, Cole Manrose, Nathan Alvarez, Ronnie Kennedy, Noah Kennedy, Verlee Sanders, and Michael Sanders, Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; and special friends, Becky Remy and Cheryle Sanders.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Sanders; great-grandson, Codey Manrose and 11 brothers and sisters.
A Funeral Ceremony will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Parker-Price Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 245 N.W. Independence Avenue, Topeka. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Topeka. Agnes will Lie In State after 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm.
