Ada King

March 30, 1943 — April 22, 2022

Ada R. King, 79, of Ozawkie, Kansas passed away on April 22, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ada was born on March 30, 1943 in Burlingame, Kansas. She was the daughter of Dorothy E. Jones Sage and Lyle Sage

Ada met her husband, Marion “Jim” King, in 1957 at a local diner. They married June 7, 1958 and were each other’s lifelong companion. They had three children, Allan, Jimmy and Lisa. Ada was a homemaker and loving caregiver for her children and grandchildren. She had a way of making her grandchildren feel like seeing them was the most important part of her day.

Ada had an adventurous spirit. She loved music, dancing and water skiing. She could constantly be counted on to share that energy with others. She enjoyed learning about history, family genealogy and was an avid traveler. She and Jim traveled the world together and lived on the road in their camper for many years, leaving nothing unexplored. She was a risk taker and loved the thrill of a big win playing her favorite games.

Ada brought the family together. She made everyone laugh with her quick wit and her ability to bring a good story to life.

She is survived by her husband Jim King, her sons Allan (Nancy) King and Jimmy (Skeeter) King, her daughter Lisa McPeek; her six grandchildren John (Brandy) King, Jennifer (Keegan) McCulley, Amanda (Chad) Gravenstein, Jaimee (Cody) Sawtelle, Alexandria King, Adrianna King; seven great grandchildren; a sister Karen Boren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ada was preceded in death by her mother, father, stepfather Roy Little, two brothers Ernie Sage and Ronald Little, her sister Imogene Hummer and son-in-law Charles McPeek, whom she loved dearly.

Private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, please consider a memorial contribution to Jefferson County Home Health & Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
