Abbey Joy Jordan, 29, Silver Lake, favorite aunt of Heather, Joey, Beth Anne, Justin, & Kitty Jordan, went to rest in Jesus' arms Mon., March 1, 2010. Abbey was born April 13, 1980, to an ecstatic Don & Joanie (Mitchell) Jordan of Silver Lake, where she joined two older brothers: Bobby (Laura) Delia, and Joe (Staci) Silver Lake. Abbey was an adorable, scrappy child who loved sports – especially softball. Abbey graduated from Silver Lake High School and attended Cloud County JuCo on softball scholarship, and went on to the Air Force where she received training in law enforcement, and served a tour of duty in Honduras. After leaving the Air Force, Abbey graduated from the law enforcement training center in Hutchinson, and secured a position with Topeka MTAA, where she was a law enforcement officer and firefighter. Abbey loved her job & took the responsibility seriously. Abbey is the only granddaughter of Robert L. Mitchell of Topeka. Abbey leaves many cousins, aunts, uncles and her very good friend, Jamie Smith, of Lawrence. Abbey was also a friend of Bill W. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Sat., March 6, 2010, at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Abbey will lie in state after 3:00 PM, Fri., at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave., Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 PM.
