Dorothy M. Robinson

Dorothy Mae Robinson, 88, of Topeka passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017.   She was born march 19, 1929 in Long Beach, California to Marion and Marjorie Barber.   Dorothy was raised at Howard, Kansas, graduating from high school in 1946.   She received her Kansas Teachers Certificate in 1947 and taught at school district #112 in Elk County. Dorothy was married George Albert Robinson on February 1, 1948 in Howard Kansas.

While surviving raising five boys, Dorothy was able to complete her Bachelor’s Degree in Education at Washburn University in 1972 and received her Master’s Degree in Home Economics from Washington State University in 1978.  She subsequently worked for the State of Kansas, Department of Education, until retirement.

George and Dorothy were members of both West Side Baptist Church and North Topeka Baptist Churches.   They were both charter members of the Shawnee County Master Gardener’s Club. In retirement, Dorothy and George enjoyed camping, family and spending many hours working in their yard and garden.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Dr. George A. Robinson in April 2004. She is survived by her sisters, Diane Hansen of Leawood, Kansas and Donna Pfeffer (Ron) of Las Vegas, NV; sons, Randy Robinson (Nancy) of Manhattan, Ron Robinson (Terry) of Omaha, Nebraska, Gary Robinson (Joy) of Topeka, Greg Robinson (Erin) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Dan (Sandra) Robinson of Chillicothe, Missouri; grandchildren, Amanda, Blake, Sarah, Brian, Jessica, Jeff, Kaycie, Hannah, Caleb, Ryan, Jacob, Dakota and Tammi; great-grandchildren, Evan, Lucas, Riley, Cadence, Aubrey, Gabriel and Elijah.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Monday, April 10 ^th at Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66608.
