Dorothy Irene Burgess

Dorothy I. Burgess, age 89, of Ransom, Kansas, formerly of Topeka, passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Ransom. Dorothy was born October 19, 1927, in South Mound, Kansas, the daughter of Fredrick and Mary Johnston Giefer. Dorothy worked at Edna’s Beauty Salon from 1959 – 1976 and then owned and operated Silouette Beauty Salon until 2003. She married Fred Burgess August 30, 1952, in South Mound, KS. He preceded her in death November 25, 2001. She then married Leland Gearhardt. He later preceded her in death.
She was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Topeka.
She is survive by a daughter, Gail (Kyle) Antenen of Ness City, KS and three brothers, George Giefer of Springfield, MO, Richard Giefer of South Mound, KS and Fred Giefer of Girard, KS.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church. Rosary will be prayed Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Assumption Catholic Church or Grisell Memorial Hospital and sent care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
