Robert Sleep of Topeka passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. He was born January 4, 1961 at St. Johnsbury, Vermont the son of Irene and Lemuel O. Sleep, Jr. Bob moved to Topeka when he was three. He received his truck driving license in 1984 in Texas. He drove for several years. Later he was a bouncer at Wild Cherries and Club Orleans. Bob loved his family and was either spending time with them or working to provide for them. He loved Chiefs football and old Westerns on TV, Harley Davidson’s, bald eagles, his dogs and pet boa’s.
Bob married Kelly Owens on March 31, 1979 in Topeka.
Bob is survived by his wife Kelly Sleep; children, Lee Sleep (Kahla), Heather Sleep, Misty Nash (Cory), Jaimey Sleep; 14 grandchildren including his granddaughter Harley Sleep (Makal Bailey) and Eric Willige who Bob and Kelly raised; had four brothers, Gary, Jim, Mike, and Lemuel Sleep, III; three sisters, Sue, Deb and Barb.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sherry and Flori.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 pm on January 10, 2017 at Davidson Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm on Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Bob Sleep Memorial Fund at Bank of America.
