Patricia J. Raikes

Patricia J. Raikes, 82, of Topeka passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 from lung cancer. She was born on the family farm at rural Timken, Rush County, Kansas on August 22, 1934 to Charles J. Bizek and Edith L. Seelye Bizek. She graduated from Lacrosse High School in 1953 and attended Brown Mackie Business School in Salina, Kansas. Patricia worked for several State agencies in Kansas as an administrative assistant. She had a life long love of music and enjoyed playing the piano, clarinet and within recent years learned the baritone so she could play with the Salvation Army Band. Patricia also loved drama and frequently entertained her nieces and nephews by reciting from memory poems, stories and sayings that she enjoyed. She was a Christian believer and supported her extended family with prayer through every trial. She participated in the Salvation Army community of faith and supported the ministry with gifts of service. Patricia was predeceased by her parents and two sisters, Thelma Jean Bizek and Sherla Lee Bizek Furgason. She will be missed by her surviving siblings, Janet Elaine Bizek Barker, Clifford C. Bizek and Charlotte I. Bizek Biays. Her nine nieces and nephews will miss laughing with her and listening to her funny stories and jokes. She modeled self confidence, speaking up for yourself and others, frugal resource management, staying informed about current events and acting to make a difference in this world while continually praying and resting in the hope of Jesus and the knowledge that "It will all work out" in the Lord's time. Memorials to the Salvation Army may be sent in care of Davidson's Funeral Home, 1035 N Kansas Ave., Topeka, KS 66608. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 27th, 10:30 am at the funeral home. Interment will also be 4:00 pm Tuesday
at the cemetery at La Crosse, Kansas
