Doris Fitzpatrick

Doris FitzPatrick loved life. Her hearty laugh has been experienced by those she grew up with in Topeka, shared with many co-workers at the Santa Fe Railroad Offices, and of course, her laugh was part of the foundation of her communication style with her daughter, Keri FitzPatrick and Doris' life partner, Dave Childs.
Doris has been described as "someone who blazed her own trail, a true one of a kind" woman and all who knew her would agree she could be at once a formidable foe and nurturing soul.
Kids (currently age 57-ish) who have known Doris over the years, remember her as always willing to be playful, one described her as "hip and cool." Trust me, (Keri) she is very pleased to be remembered this way.
Doris experienced many of life's challenges and rose above the pain, angst and confusion of those challenges the best way she knew how, with grace that she earned and sheer determination that has been and continues to be the defining element of this family's constitution.
If Doris were here to speak to you right now, she would say, "Live YOUR life" and she would support you the best way she knew how to help you do exactly that. Doris lived her own life, on her terms and truly enjoyed the myriad adventures she set out on and those that seemed to crop up as curious turns on her journey.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am on Thursday morning, Sept 1st. Her celebration of life will follow at 11:30 am at Davidson Funeral Home, 1035 N. Kansas Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society in care of Davidson Funeral Home.
