Gary Wayne Steenbock

Gary Wayne Steenbock, age 69, of Topeka, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Topeka V.A. Hospital. Gary was born March 9, 1947 in Topeka the son of Nelson and Beulah (Crable) Steenbock. He graduated from Highland Park High School with the class of 1965 where he was on the Topeka Swim Team. Gary served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He worked for the Topeka V.A. Hospital for many years. He married Georgianna Hoy March 29, 1968 in Topeka. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Gene Steenbock in 2006. He is survived by his mother, Beulah Steenbock; his wife Georgianna of over 48 years; a son, Scott Steenbock; a daughter, Stacie Steenbock; three sisters, Carol (Stefano) Fusaro, Sharol Couch and Joyce (Paul) Allen and four grandchildren that he loved very much, Brianna, Kristopher, Rebecca and Karissa Steenbock, all of Topeka. Gary was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Topeka. Gary enjoyed his grandchildren, especially attending their sporting events.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 5, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. He will lie in state Thursday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will be at the Scranton Cemetery. In lieu of memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson Center for Basic Cancer Research at Kansas State and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. davidsonfuneral.com
