Ernest "Cowboy" Smith

Ernest “Cowboy” Smith, 85 of Lecompton, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016. He was born June 24, 1931 at LaHarpe, Kansas the son of William Smith Helen Miller. He graduated from Lecompton High School. “Cowboy” served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart, Silver Star and two Bronze Stars. He worked for Kansas Color Press until suffering a back injury. He was a long-time well know umpire in the Topeka area, working for both Topeka Parks and Rec and Shawnee County leagues. He leaves behind many loved family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, August 3rd at Davidson Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lecompton Historical Society. To leave the family a message, please go to www.davidsonfuneral.com
