Roberta M. Shockey

Roberta Maxine Shockey, 83, of Topeka passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016. She was born November 19, 1932 at Seneca, Kansas the daughter of Charles and Alma Crane Townsend. She grew up in Seneca. She later moved to Riverside, California, Sante Fe, New Mexico and Topeka. Roberta loved to sit on her front porch, and spend time with the grandchildren she loved dearly.
She was married to Tom Shockey. Tom passed away in 1975. She later married Frank Shockey who preceded her in death in 2010.
Survivors include her children, Debra Hayes (Jim) of Topeka and Thomas Shockey (June) of Topeka; brothers, Frank Townsend, of Sacramento, CA and Chuck Townsend of Riverside, CA; sisters, Charlene Still of Topeka, Virgnia Henry of Hemet, CA and Lorraine Rice of Rio Rancho, NM; five grandchildren,and twelve great-grandchildren.
Roberta was preceded in death by her siblings, Glenn, Robert "Bob", Lawrence, Lloyd, Jay, Ruth and Gerri.
Roberta was cremated. A memorial service will be held at University United Methodist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. Private family inurnment will be held at later date at the Seneca Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the organization of the donor’s choice.
