Rex L. Collins, age 93, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday evening, July 20, 2016 in Topeka. Rex was born January 15, 1923 in Fredonia, Kansas the son of Claude and Hattie Cook Collins. He worked as a machinist for Boeing in Wichita and Long Beach, California before moving to Topeka.
Rex married Imes V. Schadel September 6, 1942 in Alexander, Kansas. She preceded him in death May 25, 1994. He then married Genevieve (Simonton) Millburn February 4, 1995 in Topeka. He was an active member of Northland Christian Church where he attended Sunday School and helped with funeral meals. Rex and Genevieve were members of the TOPEK’S Camping Club and the Golden Dinner Club. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert April 29, 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Collins; a daughter, Susan (Gail) Schuler of San Tan Valley, Arizona; a step son, Michael (Betty) Millburn of Topeka; a step daughter, Nancy (Don) Christian of Tecumseh; a sister in law, Linda Johns Collins of Fredonia; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; five step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Northland Christian Church. He will lie in state Sunday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. with visitation from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Rochester Cemetery.
